Fab Shop Team Lead

DEPARTMENT: FABRICATION

Job summary:

Fabrication Team Lead is responsible for assisting the Fabrication Supervisor. The Lead will provide fabrication line management to the team, coordinating their workloads, providing support to ensure that the team delivers, monitoring any issues, and ensuring production targets, and quality standards are met in order to meet the requirements of the trailers. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.


Essential job functions:

  • Prepares the Fabrication Production floor for daily production.
  • Prepares the Fabrication Production floor for daily production.
  • Review production set-ups for accuracy and quality requirements.
  • Assist trouble shooting of machines, dies, jigs.
  • Monitor training of team members in the process.
  • Assist in quality and safety investigations.
  • Report issues/problems to immediate supervisor.
  • Perform daily inventories of parts.
  • Assists supervisor in organizing, scheduling and directing other team members.
  • Acts as main interface with other departments to resolve issues related to equipment.
  • Communicate with other departments such as Maintenance, Fab Parts, Purchasing, etc.
  • Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
  • Display an attitude of cooperation and work harmoniously with all levels of company employees.
  • Adhere to company policies, rules and to promote safety standards.
  • Must have good written and verbal communication skills and be able to read and follow detailed written instructions.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions from management.
  • Able to problem solve and draw valid conclusions when issues arise.
  • Able to multitask, manage time, and able to work in a fast pace environment.
  • Able to read a tape measure and perform simple math such as adding and subtracting fractions, decimals, and whole numbers.
  • Must have the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, blueprints, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals.
  • Must be reliable and able to work all scheduled work hours. This includes working late and/or on weekends if necessary.
  • Display an attitude of cooperation and teamwork.

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent with 3 years manufacturing experience.
  • Must have some leadership experience.
  • Must have good written and verbal communication skills and be able to read and follow detailed written instructions.
  • Must have demonstrated interpersonal and leadership skills and the ability to lead a work team effectively and efficiently in a team environment.
