Meet our used equipment expert

Looking for used equipment? Chad Wells is the man to see.

Used equipment manager Chad Wells joined Trinity seven years ago. He manages all used trailers and equipment across the country.

When he started at Trinity Trailer as a parts driver seven years ago, Chad Wells had no idea that used parts would become such a big part of his career. Before Trinity, Chad was working at the local prison as a correctional officer. But a casual conversation with a Trinity employee made him rethink his career. “He told me to come work for Trinity,” Chad said. “I was looking for something new and decided to give it a shot. I’m so glad I did.”

Rusted trailers that have been in harsh environments hauling corrosive material enter our re-bin program to become like new again.

The Role of a Lifetime.

Today Chad is Trinity’s used equipment manager and is in charge of the company’s used equipment all over the country, whether it comes through trade or is bought from a third party. “I make sure we have the used equipment we need on hand and get it to our shops in a timely manner to resell,” he says.

In his role, Chad also runs Trinity’s rental program and re-bin program, where he helps completely rebuild rusted trailers.

Part of the Trinity Family.

When asked what he likes best about working for Trinity, Chad says he loves the people he works with. “We’re like a family,” he says. “It’s easy to come to work when you love the people you’re around. The people at Trinity set this company apart from our competitors. We’re there for our customers every step of the way.”

Chad says the workday doesn’t end for the sales team at five. “We have our phones on us all night and over the weekend,” he says. “If you buy a trailer from us it’s not ‘thanks we’ll see you in a couple years’—we’re constantly building relationships with the customer for the long haul.”

To stay focused, Chad starts his day early with a morning workout that begins at 5 a.m. “It keeps me energized and alert throughout the day,” he says.

This trailer’s frame was twisted and its sheets were bent in an accident. Trinity’s re-bin program will transform it back to like-new condition.

Changes at Trinity.

Chad has seen a lot of growth at Trinity during his time here. He says Trinity is producing a lot more trailers and his current role didn’t exist until a year and a half ago. “We have a whole trade business now,” he says. “We want to make the sales process easier for our customers. We have in-house financing now, too.”

Despite the growth at Trinity, Chad likes that Trinity still feels like a small family business and is able to give individual attention to each customer. “It’s kind of a perfect balance we have going,” he says. “We are the leader in the industry and we started it. We had the first patent on belt trailers and that’s what we’re really focused on. We’re really good at that and taking care of our customers at the same time.”

This trailer, which was in a massive wreck, will go through Trinity’s re-bin process and come out looking brand new.
